Teachers on the Edge: Montenegro Government Cuts Salaries While They Demand Justice!

Ready for another scandal from Montenegro? Teachers, those quiet heroes who educate us and shape the future, are now on the edge of a meltdown! The SPCG Education Union has announced a protest in front of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Innovation over a new salary calculation that will cut the pay of many teachers. Yes, you read that right — instead of being rewarded for their hard work, some education workers will see their paychecks shrink! Union president Radomir Božović says this is a direct attack on rights from the sector collective agreement (GKU), especially Article 22, which is being blatantly ignored. The Montenegrin government, led by Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and Finance Minister Novica Vuković, claims the goal isn’t to cut salaries but to enforce the principle of “equal pay for equal work.” But if that’s true, why are salaries going down? The union warns this move will undermine the rights of a significant number of education employees. The protest is a call for the government to return to social dialogue and compromise, the only way to find a solution acceptable to all. But will the government listen? Or will they keep stepping on the backs of those who teach us? If you think this is just another boring story about bureaucracy and paychecks, think again. This is a fight for dignity, respect, and the future of education in Montenegro. So, what do you think? Is it fair to cut teachers’ salaries while expecting them to be the backbone of society? Drop a comment, share your thoughts, and let’s shake things up together!
