Professor Miloš Banjac points out that more than 50% of the population in Serbia heats with wood, which is the cheapest option, while those who use electricity will have the highest costs. Heating with wood negatively affects air quality, so systemic measures are needed to reduce pollution. It is suggested to connect as many households as possible to the city heating plant and provide access to gas. Additionally, transitioning to heat pumps with subsidies is recommended. Banjac emphasizes the possibility of reducing the cost of connecting to city heating plants.
Wood heating is cheap but harms air; electric is costly.
