Have you heard the latest drama from the village of Dubovo? Fires broke out, and social media along with some media outlets immediately started spreading stories about “selective firefighting” by the Ministry of Interior’s emergency sector. Yes, you read that right – supposedly firefighters were choosing which fires to fight and which to ignore! But the Ministry of Interior quickly stepped in and said: “These are lies and malicious claims!”
False accusations burning hotter than the fire
The Ministry of Interior clearly stated that claims about a fire truck being deliberately left in front of the house of the local community council president and not being used to fight the fire are completely false. The vehicle was parked in the most suitable place in the center of the village, at an intersection, to facilitate refilling other vehicles with firefighting supplies.
Also, the police did not prevent locals from helping; they blocked certain access points to the village center for safety reasons. Why? To allow firefighters and volunteer fire brigades to access endangered locations without obstruction and save lives.
The reality of fires in Serbia: Numbers that don’t lie
Just yesterday, over 40 fires were registered across Serbia in open areas, mostly caused by human negligence. In the Toplica district, which includes Prokuplje, Kuršumlija, and Žitorađa, firefighters from Subotica, Kikinda, Smederevo, Niš, and Belgrade worked at full capacity.
Together with the helicopter unit, they saved hundreds of villages and thousands of houses and other properties. Yes, brave people risking their lives daily to save others are now being targeted by false accusations and malicious comments.
Who spreads lies and why?
The Ministry of Interior has called on individuals and media to refrain from spreading unverified and false information. Because at a time when people are fighting fires and saving lives, such lies only complicate the situation and endanger those on the ground.
Imagine this – while firefighters battle the blaze, some sit behind keyboards spreading stories that have nothing to do with the truth. Is that fair to those on the front lines?
Conclusion: The fire of lies is more dangerous than the flames
While Serbia fights the blaze and counts the damage, the truth is that firefighters and police have done their job professionally and bravely. Selective firefighting? No, thanks! It’s just another conspiracy theory that haunts us in every crisis.
If you have a similar story or were in Dubovo, drop a comment and share your thoughts. Maybe it’s time to put out the fire of lies together and support those who truly protect us! And if you thought this was the end of the fire, wait till you see what else this summer has in store…
