Škoda Rules Croatian Roads!
In the first six months of this year, sales of new passenger cars in Croatia jumped by 6.3% compared to the same period last year. A total of 41,000 new vehicles were sold, with June bringing an additional 6.7% growth with 8,000 cars sold. But who’s the king of the road? Of course, Škoda! With a 13.8% share of total sales, Škoda is the undisputed leader, and the best-selling model is the Škoda Octavia, chosen by 1,000 buyers in June alone.
Volkswagen took second place with a 12% share, followed by Renault at 9.7%. Opel and Suzuki hold fourth and fifth places with 7.5% and 6.7% shares respectively. Among the top-selling models are Opel Corsa, Opel Mokka, VW T-Cross, and Renault Clio. Even two Aston Martins and one Lamborghini were sold in June, showing there’s room for luxury toys in Croatia.
Gasoline and Hybrids – Love at First Sight
Almost half (49.4%) of all new vehicles sold are gasoline-powered, showing drivers still love classic engines. Hybrid vehicles hold a significant 35.4%, while diesels account for 12.4%. Electric vehicles remain rare with only 1.1% share, and gas-powered cars are almost negligible at 1.8%.
Why Does This Matter?
These figures show that the Croatian car market is slowly changing but is not yet ready for a mass switch to electric vehicles. Škoda, as the leader, successfully combines affordability and quality, clearly attracting buyers.
