Nensi Brlek Blažević: From TV Star to Doctor of Science – A Story of Success and Dedication

Remember Nensi Brlek Blažević? The former star of HRT who was the face of major news broadcasts for years has now achieved huge success in a completely new career – academia! Nensi has just defended her doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. sc. Tena Perišin, on a topic that opens eyes: new features of interviews in central television news programs during the coronavirus pandemic. Yes, you read that right – the woman who delivered the most important news for years is now studying how television journalism functioned in crisis times!

Nensi was once one of the most recognizable faces on HRT. In the early 2000s, she took over hosting the popular “Zagreb Panorama,” and by 2003 she was given the opportunity to host and edit the midday news. The peak of her career came in 2007 when she became the anchor of the central news program, a position she held for seven years. Her voice and calm demeanor were especially remembered on September 11, 2001, when she professionally and calmly reported the shocking news of the terrorist attacks in the United States.

For her work and contribution to journalism, she won five “Večernjakova ruža” awards, prestigious recognitions given by the Večernji list newspaper. Despite her status as a true TV star, in 2015 she surprised many by deciding to step away from the screens and dedicate herself to academic work and teaching new generations of journalists at the Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb.

Nensi proved that success is not just about the spotlight but about knowledge, effort, and dedication. Her story inspires everyone who thinks a media career is just glitz and glamour. Behind the camera, she shapes the future of Croatian journalism, far from the public eye but with huge influence.

And let’s not forget – her private life is harmonious and stable. She is married to Berislav Blažević, a renowned keyboardist of the legendary band Parni Valjak, and their love has lasted over two decades. They have a daughter, Tereza, who is the crown of their happiness.

Nensi Brlek Blažević is proof that you can be both a star and a scholar, and that true strength lies in knowledge and dedication. If this story gave you hope or surprised you, drop a comment – who knows, maybe you have a hidden academic star inside you!
