New Bar Bari Sea Line: Economic and Tourism Boom or Just Another Empty Promise?

New Bar-Bari Sea Line: Economic and Tourism Boom or Just Another Empty Promise?

Have you heard about the new Bar-Bari sea line? Minister Radulović claims it is a “significant step in the development of Montenegro’s maritime infrastructure.” The cooperation with the renowned Croatian carrier Jadrolinija supposedly brings safety and sustainability for passengers and cargo. Every new line, he says, contributes to strengthening the economy and tourism. But is it really that great?

Bar Port Unions: The State Promises but Fails to Deliver

The unions of Bar Port have been waiting for state assistance for a year after a devastating weather disaster destroyed vital port infrastructure. Three cargo bridges were destroyed, the grain loading tower was demolished, and conveyor belts and silos were severely damaged. Although Minister Radulović promised help immediately after the disaster, nothing materialized. The entire burden of repairs fell on the employer and workers. Despite this, the port ended the year with a positive business result, but the question remains how sustainable this is without state support.

New Bar-Bari Line: Just a Drop in a Sea of Problems?

The new Bar-Bari line is just one of several established, such as Budva-Dubrovnik and Kotor-Dubrovnik, with Bar-Ancona expected soon. But do these lines really bring an economic boom or are they just political tricks for media promotion? Bar Port is in a difficult state, infrastructure is damaged, and the state does not fulfill its promises. How can maritime traffic truly thrive and contribute to tourism and economic development under these conditions?

Why Does This Matter?

Maritime traffic is crucial for Montenegro, a country with a long coastline and great tourism potential. Every new line can open doors to new markets and facilitate the transport of goods and passengers. But without adequate infrastructure and state support, it all remains on paper. Bar Port unions clearly state that urgent help and investments are needed for the port to function properly.

Conclusion: Boasting or Real Progress?

Minister Radulović and the government boast about new maritime lines as a great success. However, unions and Bar Port workers warn of serious problems and unfulfilled promises. Is the new Bar-Bari line truly a significant step or just another empty story? Until the infrastructure is restored and receives adequate support, it is hard to expect real development of maritime traffic and tourism.

What do you think about these promises and the real state of Bar Port? Is this just another political show or is something really changing? Drop a comment, maybe together we’ll uncover what’s really behind the flashy headlines!
