A shocking story from New Jersey! Laura Karon, a fifth-grade elementary school teacher in Middle Township, has been accused of sexually abusing a student for an unbelievable four years. Yes, you read that right – four years! It all started when the victim was just 11 years old, and according to the police report, Karon even gave birth to a daughter fathered by this minor child, who was only 13 at the time.
The charges are severe: first and second-degree sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. If convicted, Karon faces up to 40 years in prison. Although she was arrested in January and briefly held in custody, she was soon released on bail. The court hearing is scheduled for July 16, and she has not yet pleaded guilty.
What’s even more shocking is that the victim’s parents allowed their children to occasionally stay at Karon’s house, and later the victim even began living with her. How is it possible that no one noticed or acted sooner?
