Noise in Hospitality Venues: €20,000 in Fines and the Battle Between Residents and Nightclubs

Noise, Fines, and Nightclub Drama!

Imagine this: over six months, inspectors checked 77 hospitality venues, and 72 of them were ordered to install noise limiters! And that’s not all – fines totaled around 20,000 euros! Yes, you read that right, 20,000 euros for noise!

Who’s to Blame?

Miljan Lalović, a representative of the city inspection administration, doesn’t hold back. The problem is many venues either don’t have noise limiters installed or don’t use them properly. Some even host live music without any volume control, and others stubbornly use electroacoustic devices after midnight, which is strictly forbidden.

Residents vs. Hospitality Owners – The Never-Ending War

Residents living in buildings with these venues want music to stop by 10 PM, while hospitality owners defend their right to play music until midnight, and nightclubs push for 4 or 5 AM! Imagine the noise at that hour – who could possibly sleep?

New Regulation – A Compromise or a Shot in the Dark?

The draft decision on operating hours tries to satisfy both sides, but it’s clear this is just the start of a heated debate. The public discussion runs until July 21, and everyone is invited to join.

Why Does This Matter?

Because noise isn’t just an annoyance – it’s a health issue, a quality of life issue, and a community peace issue. And when inspectors start handing out fines, it’s clear things aren’t up to par.

Will Anything Change?

We’ll see. But one thing’s for sure – noise in nightclubs and hospitality venues in Podgorica isn’t just about music; it’s a full-blown drama between residents and venue owners.

If you’ve ever been kept awake by noise from a nearby bar or club, you know what we’re talking about. So, what do you think? Are fines enough, or do we need tougher measures? Or should nightlife go on till dawn, no matter what? Drop a comment and let’s hear your take in this noisy saga!
