This landfill also has international implications as the waste ends up in the Ibar River, which flows through Serbia. Environmental activists call on the authorities to urgently respond and sanction those responsible, and to find an alternative solution for waste disposal. The Mostina landfill issue symbolizes the irresponsibility of local authorities and ineffective law enforcement, further threatening public health and the economy of Montenegro’s northern region.
