North Macedonia is burning like never before! Nine active wildfires rage across the country, with three of them being especially dangerous and giving firefighters no rest. The longest-lasting inferno is near the village of Nikolić, where the fire has been raging for over seven days! Firefighters are battling with all their might, but nature keeps winning. With the help of one amphibious aircraft and a military helicopter, they try to extinguish the flames, but the situation is far from safe.
Two other major fires broke out near the villages of Krušje and Lokvice, and putting them out is a real challenge. The Director of the Protection and Rescue Directorate, Stojanče Angelov, warns that these two fires have the potential to become even worse and harder to control. All this is happening near Dojran Lake, close to the border with Greece, which complicates the situation further.
While North Macedonia fights this fiery disaster, the world watches in disbelief. How is this possible in the 21st century when we have technology and resources? Is this the result of climate change or human negligence? One thing is clear — nature is sending a loud message, and we are far from ready to listen.
If you think this is the end, think again! The fires are spreading, and firefighters are at their limits. Every day brings new challenges and new victims. Will North Macedonia manage to overcome this catastrophe, or will the flames consume even more? Stay tuned and share your thoughts — isn’t it time we seriously protect nature, or will we wait until the flames destroy us completely?
