Nurses on the Brink: Protest in Podgorica Over Humiliating Working Conditions

Imagine being a nurse or a medical technician in Montenegro. Your job is tough, demanding expertise and huge responsibility. But your salary? Often below the minimum wage! Yes, you read that right. The basic salary for nurses and technicians is often less than the country’s minimum wage, which is legally a protective category. Even worse, the job complexity coefficient for this profession is about 10% lower compared to other employees with the same qualification level. How is that even possible? The Health Workers’ Union of Montenegro can’t stay silent anymore. That’s why they’ve scheduled a protest in Podgorica, at Vektra Square, at 3:30 PM, to fight for dignity and better working conditions.

This isn’t just a fight for higher paychecks; it’s a fight for the survival of the healthcare system. Every lost healthcare worker is a loss for the entire society. Nurses and technicians are the backbone of healthcare, and their fight is our fight. The Free Trade Unions of Montenegro have called on all citizens to support this protest.

Will the authorities finally realize the seriousness of the situation, or will they keep ignoring those who care for our health? If you think this is just another protest, think again. This is the last alarm for decision-makers. So, what do you think? Is the dignity of nurses and technicians in Montenegro at rock bottom, or is it time for change? Drop a comment, share your thoughts, or just laugh at the bitter truth — but don’t stay silent.
