Obama Said Enough!
Former US President Barack Obama last week delivered a fiery speech at a private fundraiser in New Jersey, telling Democrats: “Stop whining, start acting!” Amid Donald Trump’s second term, Obama urged members of his party to stop being passive and paralyzed and finally stand up and fight for what they believe is right.
“Enough of staring at your belly button and lying in the fetal position!” Obama said, criticizing those who complain but do nothing. “Don’t tell me you’re a disappointed Democrat and then do nothing!” he emphasized, pointing out that now is the time for courage and concrete action.
Money and Candidates First
The event was organized by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, raising a whopping $2.5 million for the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Part of that money will go to campaigns of Mikie Sherrill, candidate for New Jersey governor, and Abigail Spanberger, candidate for Virginia governor, whom Obama described as voices of reason and pragmatism.
“Stop looking for a messiah or a quick fix. You have great candidates, support them now!” Obama urged, stressing that the most important thing is to fill the DNC coffers to win elections.
End of Ideological Divides, Time for Concrete Solutions
Obama also criticized internal divisions within the Democratic Party, especially the conflict between the left and those advocating the so-called abundance agenda. “If you want to help people, you have to find a way to actually do it!” he said, citing housing problems and regulations that prevent construction.
Trump Era Without Protective Barriers
The former president revealed that Trump’s behavior did not surprise him because the Republican Party has lost all protective barriers. He called on institutions like the judiciary and universities to resist pressures and threats from the Trump administration.
“We must be ready to feel uncomfortable defending our values, our country, and the world we want to leave to our children and grandchildren,” Obama concluded.
If you thought democracy would survive on its own, think again! Obama made it clear that it’s time for action, not whining. What about you? Ready to get involved or just watch others fight? Share your thoughts — maybe you have the idea that can shake things up!
