Olja Karleuša on Love, Wealth, and the Reality of Today’s Female Singers

Olja Karleuša: Love, Marriage, and Wealth in the World of Folk Music

Olja Karleuša, a folk singer who stepped away from the public eye at the height of her popularity to focus on her family, speaks candidly about her life, marriage, and the wealth she and her husband have built together.

“I never lived for singing; it was a hobby that earned me well,” Olja says, debunking rumors that her husband is a company director. She emphasizes that her husband is indeed successful, but when they met, neither was richer or more successful than the other.

They met when Olja was 23 and he was 26. Now, after 20 years of marriage, they have both progressed and built a stable and wealthy life together. Olja owns a hotel at a popular ski resort, and their home in Avala exudes luxury and comfort, with a view of the Avala Tower.

However, Olja does not hide that the situation for female singers today is far from ideal. “Any singer can find a wealthy man, but nowadays men are the ones looking for wealthy singers to make their lives easier,” she admits frankly. She adds that managers immediately look for ways to ease their own lives through their clients, creating pressure and complications in private life.

Olja believes that those lucky enough to find a good partner must fight to keep their marriage, as maintaining harmony is not easy in a world where everything changes fast and interests often come first.

Her house in Avala is a true example of luxury — a living room with a white kitchen and glass bar, large black and beige furniture, black-and-white walls, and one wall of dark stone that gives the space a special charm. Additionally, Olja owns an apartment in Vračar, near the Church of Saint Sava.

This candid interview sheds light on the reality of folk singers’ lives, balancing between public and private, love and money, success and the pressures of today’s world.

If you think the life of celebrities is always a fairy tale, Olja Karleuša is here to prove you wrong. So, what do you think — is it easier today to be a wealthy man or a wealthy singer? Drop a comment and let’s see who’s right!
