Opening of the New Miloš Veliki Highway Section: A Revolution on Serbian Roads or Just Another Construction Fairy Tale?

Serbia’s New Miloš Veliki Highway Section: A Road Revolution or Just Another Concrete Fairy Tale?

Ready to ride into the future? Serbia has finally unveiled a shiny new stretch of the E763 highway, known as Miloš Veliki, connecting Preljina to Požega. Spanning 30.9 kilometers, this isn’t just any road — it’s an engineering marvel that slashes travel time to Zlatibor down to just two hours, and to Belgrade to a jaw-dropping 80 minutes!

Tunnels That Break Records

This stretch is a wild ride through the mountainous terrain of western Serbia. It features two impressive tunnels, Munjino Brdo and Laz, each about 2.5 kilometers long, making them the longest in Serbia — at least until the Iriški Venac tunnel on Fruška Gora is completed. There’s also the Trbušani tunnel, and a whopping 35 bridges and 4 overpasses have been built along this route. Yes, you read that right — 35 bridges!

Why Should You Care?

This isn’t just numbers and concrete pillars. It’s a key infrastructure project that will ease the lives of thousands, reduce traffic jams in Čačak, and connect vital parts of Serbia. Zoran Drobnjak, director of JP Putevi Srbije, emphasizes that quality control is relentless — no room for slip-ups here.

Vučić’s Vision

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić couldn’t hide his excitement during the final inspection. He called this project “a dream of generations” and promised Serbia will keep building and working, because that’s the road to future victories and success.

What’s Next?

This is just the beginning! Other sections like Belgrade-Surčin-Obrenovac, Obrenovac-Ljig, and Ljig-Preljina have already opened, totaling over 120 kilometers. Together, they form the Belgrade-South Adriatic highway, set to become Serbia’s major traffic artery.

The Bottom Line

Is this just another pile of concrete or the dawn of a new era in Serbian infrastructure? With this pace and quality, Serbia seems to be speeding full throttle toward modernization. But, of course, the big question remains — how long will it last, and will it be maintained?

What about you? Have you driven this stretch yet? Or are you waiting for the Iriški Venac tunnel to see the real magic? Drop a comment, share your thoughts, or just say — who else loves cruising through tunnels that stretch for kilometers?

This is just the start, and Serbia is gearing up for even bigger infrastructure feats. Buckle up, because travel will never be the same!
