Opening of the Last Section of Miloš Veliki Highway: A Traffic Revolution in Western Serbia

Imagine this: 30.9 kilometers of perfect highway, with three tunnels totaling nearly three kilometers, three interchanges, and a bunch of bridges and viaducts, finally opened! Yes, you read that right, the Miloš Veliki highway from Preljina to Požega is here, and it’s a masterpiece! President Vučić proudly announced that this infrastructure feat, one of the most demanding in the last ten years, will cut travel time from Belgrade to Požega to just 1 hour and 20 minutes, and to Zlatibor to about 2 hours. Sounds like a dream, but it’s reality!

This section is a true technical marvel, with the Trbušani, Laz, and Munjino Brdo tunnels, each designed with two separate tubes for each direction, about 2.5 kilometers long each. Not only is the journey now faster, but also safer, with state-of-the-art equipment and control rooms that can manage traffic even during power outages or fires.

Vučić emphasized that Serbia has built more highways in the last 13 years than in the previous 67, and this trend will continue. This highway not only connects cities but opens doors for tourism and investment development in Western Serbia, especially in Čačak and its surroundings.

But let’s be real — how many times have we heard about big projects that are delayed or half-done? Here, Vučić stressed that everything was done to the highest standards, with no hiding or fudging, which is rare in our parts.

So, if you ever dreamed of driving a highway through the beautiful Ovčar-Kablar Gorge, with views of lookouts and amazing monasteries, now is the time to wake up and enjoy this marvel of modern infrastructure.

And yes, for the first few days, driving will be toll-free — like a gift from Vučić for your patience!
