28th International Basketball Camp Kasta Opens: A Basketball Legend Lives and Breathes in Serbia!

Did you know that in Serbia there is a basketball camp that has been running for 28 years and has become a true symbol of quality and tradition? Yes, you read that right! The International Basketball Camp Kasta, certified by the Basketball Federation of Serbia, opened its season this summer at two locations – Orašac and Ivanjica.

This camp is not just a place to train basketball. It’s a place where lifelong friendships are made, where children from Serbia and abroad learn to love the most beautiful sport in the world. This year, the camp gathered young basketball players from many Serbian cities and even from Timișoara, showing how internationally recognized this camp has become.

Legendary Coaches and Experience You Can’t Buy

At the camp opening, the head of Kasta, Srđan Stojanović, gathered those who contributed to the camp’s development, including legendary coach Petar Rodić, who has been with the camp for 19 years and considers it his family. Rodić emphasizes that the greatness of this camp lies in promoting tradition and mass participation, because mass participation leads to quality.

The Basketball Federation of Serbia supports the camp, with competition vice-president Darko Jovičić sending greetings from the federation’s president and urging children to stay loyal to basketball, a sport that brings wonderful people together.

Double Location, Double Energy

This year, the camp did something unprecedented – it runs simultaneously at two locations! Orašac and Ivanjica host young athletes throughout the summer, which is a huge logistical challenge but also proof of how important and popular the Kasta camp has become.

Branko Aleksić, who manages the Ivanjica part of the camp, notes the enormous support and hopes this season will be the best yet.

Young Ambassadors of Basketball and the Future of the Sport

The camp’s promoter is young basketball player Pavle Stošić, a former junior Serbian national team member and player at the prestigious American university Gonzaga, now playing for Pepperdine. He was the youngest participant in the camp and is proud to pass on his knowledge and experience to new generations.

The Kasta camp has come a long way – over 28 years, more than 30,000 girls and boys from 44 countries have passed through it! They are true ambassadors of Serbia worldwide, showing that our country is full of smart, capable, and talented people.

Why Is Camp Kasta Important?

This camp is not just a sports event. It is an institution that nurtures tradition, mass participation, and quality. It is a place where future sports stars are born and where loyalty, love for sport, and patriotism are taught.
