In the southern Pakistani city of Karachi, a father brutally killed his son simply because the son befriended transgender people. First, the father attacked his son with a stun gun, then beat him to death with a shovel. The police arrested the man, who confessed to the crime, saying he was angry because his son refused to stay away from “dirty people.” Transgender individuals in Pakistan are often kicked out of their families, hated by society, and forced to live on the margins, facing violence, kidnappings, and sexual assaults.
