Scorching Heat and Unstable Weather in Serbia: Brace for Heatwave and Brief Cool Down!

The scorching heatwave in Serbia has finally arrived, and the Republic Hydrometeorological Institute (RHMZ) is not holding back – temperatures will soar up to a blistering 36 degrees Celsius! But don’t ditch your jackets just yet, because around July 25th, a brief cool down is expected to hit, lasting only a few days before another wave of tropical heat returns.

Today, expect mostly sunny and warm weather with maximum temperatures ranging between 32 and 36 degrees. The morning starts off cloudy, but clouds will clear during the day except in mountainous areas where local showers are possible. Winds will be light to moderate, coming from the west and northwest.

But don’t be fooled – starting Tuesday, July 15th, variable, muggy, and unstable weather will arrive with local showers and thunderstorms, and temperatures hovering between 30 and 34 degrees. Wednesday brings short-lived rain and a slight drop in temperatures, while Thursday will bring a noticeable cool down, especially in northwest Serbia where temperatures will drop to around 25 degrees, and in parts of Croatia even down to 18 degrees.

However, don’t celebrate too soon – this cool down will be short-lived. From July 20th, a new wave of tropical heat will hit, with temperatures reaching up to 41 degrees Celsius in the southeast of the region! There will be several tropical nights, and winds will be light.

RHMZ has already issued yellow and orange weather alerts due to the high temperatures, warning citizens to prepare for extreme weather conditions. Meteorologist Marko Čubrilo, on his Facebook page, notes that temperatures in the coming days will be around the average for this time of year, but after July 20th, a real heatwave hell awaits.

For those wondering when relief will finally come, Čubrilo says the next cool down might happen around July 25th, but it will be brief. Until then, brace yourself for sun, sweat, and humidity, because summer in Serbia this year won’t be merciful.

If you thought this was the end, think again – unstable weather with showers and thunderstorms will mostly affect mountainous areas, but there is also a chance of local severe weather, especially in the northern parts of the region. Winds will occasionally be strong and stormy, adding to the chaos.

So, dear readers, it’s time to grab your sunscreen, but also your umbrellas, because we’re in for a real weather rollercoaster! And if you’re already feeling hot, just imagine what it’ll be like when temperatures hit 41 degrees. Maybe it’s time to start thinking about moving to the North Pole? Or at least crack some jokes about this hellish heat in the comments – who knows, maybe your humor will cool down the atmosphere better than an umbrella!

In any case, keep an eye on the weather forecast and don’t forget to drink plenty of water. And hey, if you have any good tips on surviving this heat, feel free to share – we’re all in the same boat, and together it’s easier to get through even the fiercest heatwaves!
