Imagine being on your dream vacation on the beautiful Greek island of Thassos, only to be woken up by sirens and thick smoke swallowing the sky! Yes, you read that right – fires have erupted as if hell itself decided to move to Thassos. Over 50 Serbian families were forced to evacuate their accommodations in panic while firefighters heroically battled the blazing inferno. The Serbian Consul General in Thessaloniki, Jelena Vujić Obradović, stated that all Serbian tourists on the island are safe, but the situation remains serious due to high temperatures, dry air, and strong winds that triggered a yellow weather alert. Greek authorities warn of an increased risk of new fires and urge everyone not to light fires outdoors, especially near forests!
The fires have affected popular tourist destinations such as Nei Pori, Leptokaria, Sithonia, and the entire island of Thassos. Some hotels were evacuated, and tourists fled their rooms in panic. The Serbian consulate maintains constant contact with tourists and relevant services, available 24/7 for all needs and emergencies.
Imagine this – power outages and internet disruptions further unsettled families already in fear. Fortunately, there were no injuries or lives at risk. However, the danger is not over, as weather conditions remain unfavorable.
This situation casts a shadow over what was supposed to be a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Is this a sign that nature is fighting back against us? Or just a warning that we need to be more careful? Either way, if you are on Thassos or planning to go, keep your eyes wide open and remember – fire does not forgive!
And you, dear readers, what do you think about these fires? Is it time to take nature protection seriously, or will we keep watching our vacations turn into nightmares? Drop a comment, share your thoughts, or just crack a joke to lighten the mood a bit!
