Brace yourselves, Serbia, because summer 2025 is bringing a hellish heatwave that will leave you gasping for air! According to meteorologist Ivan Ristić, early next week we’re facing a new heatwave with temperatures soaring up to a scorching 40 degrees Celsius. Yes, you read that right — 40 degrees! And that’s not all. Tropical nights, especially in Belgrade, will be so hot that temperatures could locally hit 25 degrees, meaning you’ll be sweating even while trying to sleep.
This heatwave won’t be a quick flash like the last one. Ristić warns it will last longer, all the way until July 7th, when the African anticyclone is expected to weaken and the heat dome will shift. But don’t expect long-term relief — mid-July brings the long-awaited rain, but also the risk of storms. After a short break, tropical temperatures will return in the third decade of July, meaning another brutal heatwave is on the horizon.
The drought situation is already alarming. The summer drought has dragged on too long, and the first problems are already visible, especially in southeastern Serbia. European models predict normal rainfall only in the west and north of the country, while the southeast will continue to suffer from drought.
How to prepare? Doctors advise wearing light clothing and staying well hydrated. Air conditioners are a lifesaver, but how many actually work in Serbia? This isn’t just any heatwave — it’s a test of endurance for the entire nation.
And while we battle the heat, the streets of Belgrade remain scenes of clashes and protests, adding fuel to the fire. Will this be the summer that breaks us or teaches us how to survive? Only time will tell, but one thing’s clear — Serbia is melting, literally!
If you’re already sweating just reading this, imagine being outside or stuck in an apartment without AC. Got any cool hacks to survive these blazing days? Share them in the comments — maybe your tip will save someone from a meltdown!
