Pančevo Blockades Over Student Arrests: Chaos on Streets and Traffic Jams

Pančevo has been in chaos for days! Last night, roads leading to Belgrade, including the intersection near Grga and the Tamiš Bridge, were completely blocked. Traffic jams stretched for kilometers, forcing drivers to take narrow alternative routes like the embankment along the Tamiš River. Although the Pančevo Bridge is currently open in both directions, it’s not enough to stop the total traffic meltdown. This all started as a reaction to what organizers call the “illegal and violent arrest of students.” Calls to continue the blockades are spreading on social media, and the situation is tense and uncertain. Public transport in Belgrade is slowly returning to normal, but traffic jams continue to wreak havoc on the streets. How long will this traffic nightmare last? No one knows yet.

In Belgrade, things aren’t much calmer. After student protests on Vidovdan, the streets became a battleground. Protesters tried to break through police lines near the Serbian Parliament and Pionirski Park but failed. Police arrested several people, and six officers were injured. Although the morning brought a semblance of calm, student tents remain, and tensions are still high. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced he will address the public, adding fuel to the fire.

These two events clearly show how tense the situation in Serbia is and how ready students are to fight for their rights. The traffic chaos in Pančevo and the riots in Belgrade are not just local issues—they are signs of deeper social tensions that can’t be ignored. Think this is the end? Think again—this is just the beginning. So, what do you think? Are the blockades justified or just unnecessary chaos? Drop a comment and let’s hear your take!
