Piglet Prices in Republika Srpska Plummet to Historic Lows – Is It Time to Buy?
Piglets have never been cheaper! Did you know that the current price for a kilogram of live piglet weight in Republika Srpska is only about 5.5 KM (2.8 euros)? This is the lowest price in the last two years, maybe even longer! For comparison, before Đurđevdan, the price was twice as high – around 11.5 KM (5.8 euros) per kilogram.
Why such a steep price drop? Piglet prices in Republika Srpska fluctuate like a rollercoaster, all because of the simple law of supply and demand. Before holidays like Đurđevdan, demand spikes, and so do prices. But now, in July, during the Petrovski fast and before the diaspora returns, prices have fallen to historic lows. Pig breeders admit that prices rise before celebrations, but now is the time when piglets are cheaper than ever.
What’s next? The president of the Pig Breeders Association, Mišo Maljčić, says we can expect another price increase in about ten days, once the Petrovski fast ends and our people working abroad start returning. After the summer holidays, prices will likely stabilize until the winter holidays and January celebrations.
Is now the time to buy? If you’re planning to buy piglets, this might be the perfect opportunity! Prices are currently half of what they were two months ago. But be ready – prices will jump again soon. Breeders are like sly foxes waiting for the right moment to cash in, while we ordinary folks are left wondering how prices can change so fast.
Conclusion Piglet prices in Republika Srpska are a wild ride! On one hand, we have the lowest prices in two years, and on the other, new price hikes are looming. If you love pork and plan to buy, watch the prices closely – maybe now’s the time to grab your wallet before breeders surprise you again.
