Podgorica is burning like never before! Massive fires have erupted in multiple locations, mercilessly devouring everything in their path — from prepared firewood to residential houses! Near the Euro Petrol gas station and the old airport, the fire engulfed the Ćemovsko Polje park forest, with firefighters battling fiercely to save over 100 homes. The flames threatened vineyards of the famous Plantaže company, and at one point, there were about 30 firefighters with 15 vehicles on the scene, including reinforcements from Bar and Nikšić. And all this because of human error — yes, people are the ones who caused this disaster!
At the same time, in Loznica, a landfill fire is raging, with the wind making firefighting efforts even harder. Ten firefighters, three vehicles, and workers from the public utility company “Naš dom” are tirelessly working to contain the fire, which is spreading thick black smoke. Fortunately, the fire is expected to be localized soon, but the danger remains due to the wind.
These fires are not just natural disasters but consequences of human negligence and irresponsibility. In Podgorica, the protection and rescue services clearly state that the cause is human factor, with no other explanation. While firefighters fight the fiery beast, residents fear for their homes and property.
This is not just a story about fire; it’s about how ready we are as a society to face the consequences of our actions. Will we keep lighting fires, or will we finally learn a lesson? Firefighters are today’s heroes, but how long can they fight this problem alone?
