Have you ever seen someone threaten the police with death and have it ignored? No? Well, Police Director Dragan Vasiljević thinks otherwise! He clearly stated that death threats against police officers are completely unacceptable and that the police will respond appropriately. So much for tolerance!
In recent months, the police have been extremely tolerant towards protesters in front of the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, but now enough is enough! Violence and threats to safety will not be tolerated. Officers had to remove those blocking traffic because they did not obey orders. And no, the police did not enter the faculty building, but they are ready to enter even the director’s apartment if needed to catch the attackers.
Attacks on the police have escalated to bizarre levels of brutality – they have been pelted with flares, rods, eggs, flour, paint, and everything else imaginable. All while the police try to enforce the law and maintain public order. Who will protect us if the police can’t do their job?
The police director is clear: “We will not allow attacks on police officers. We will ensure stable public order and peace, no matter what others think.”
If you think this is over the top, think again. Death threats and violence against the police are not just a police problem, they are a problem for all of us. If you have a funny comment or think this is exaggerated, jump into the conversation – it’ll be interesting to hear what you have to say!
