Welcome to yet another spectacle from the political arena of Bosnia and Herzegovina! The Serb member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, never misses a chance to pour fuel on the already blazing political scene. This time, her target is the Bosniak member of the Presidency, Denis Bećirović, whom she labeled a “hate inciter” and a “politician of the past.” It all started after Bećirović’s statement on the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, where he criticized the stance of Republika Srpska, Serbia, and their officials towards the victims.
Cvijanović fired back without hesitation, accusing Bećirović of never missing an opportunity to show hatred towards everything Serbian, and that his rhetoric is full of false accusations and destructive topics like “Greater Serbia” and “unconstitutional Greater Bosniak hegemony.” She even defended Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, claiming Bećirović has never said anything constructive, only endless gossip and false accusations.
On the other hand, Bećirović did not stay silent. On Instagram, he accused Vučić of continuing the “dark propaganda” of Slobodan Milošević’s regime, which, according to him, led to the genocide in Srebrenica. This exchange of insults and accusations only deepens the divide between the two peoples and their representatives, while ordinary citizens remain trapped in the whirlpool of political conflicts.
This political soap opera has been going on for years, and every new clash only reminds us how hard it is to find common ground in a country still deeply divided. Will there ever be an end to this senseless rhetoric, or will we keep watching the same movie over and over? If you have an opinion or just want to laugh at these political actors, feel free to drop a comment – maybe your word will change the course of this endless drama!
