Budva has turned into a battlefield of political-mafia chaos rarely seen before! Nikola Jovanović, the mayor of Budva, was brutally beaten in an attack he claims was planned and politically motivated. Behind it all stands a mafia-political octopus linked to the New Serbian Democracy and Andrija Mandić, says Jovanović, who despite severe injuries decided to leave hospital treatment to attend the anniversary of his father’s death.
The attack happened on July 18, right after Jovanović appeared on RTCG’s morning program, confirming its political background. Jovanović reveals shocking claims that the Mitrović brothers, known members of a criminal group, conspired with Mandić to seize power in Budva. The old NSD Budva board was dissolved by decree, and a new one formed with criminal group members in key positions.
Shockingly, the attackers, including Jovo Mitrović, are armed and freely roam Budva’s streets, while judicial institutions, according to Jovanović, bow down to political power players. The Kotor prosecutor’s office classifies the incident as grievous bodily harm and violent behavior, but no detention was ordered, fueling suspicions of political protection for the attackers.
Jovanović doesn’t spare the police either, questioning how notorious criminals can move freely armed while arrests are delayed and weapons hidden. He calls for urgent action from state authorities and warns that if such attacks are covered up, Montenegro can expect worse — political liquidations and a return to dark times.
This case has sparked reactions from the highest state officials, including the president and prime minister, who condemned the attack and expressed concern. However, Jovanović warns that some individuals and political entities try to exploit the event for cheap political gain, calling it the lowest point of political and human morality.
Despite everything, Jovanović remains unshaken in his fight against the mafia-political octopus and declares he cannot be scared or bought. He urges citizens to grasp the seriousness of the situation and not allow the mafia to take control of the city. If institutions continue to remain silent or cover up such attacks, Montenegro will face even greater problems.
This is not just a story about one attack — it’s a wake-up call for the entire system, the state, and society. Budva and Montenegro stand at a crossroads, and the question is whether we will allow the mafia and political octopuses to drag us back to the darkest days. Got a hot take or a sarcastic comment?
