Did you know that the Serbian Tax Administration has sent over 719 million fiscal receipts with unique codes for the “Take a Receipt and Win” lottery? Yes, you read that right – over 719 MILLION receipts! All this to encourage citizens to ask for fiscal receipts and supposedly reduce the shadow economy.
What is this lottery about?
The “Take a Receipt and Win” lottery started on May 1st this year, and all fiscal receipts issued since January 1st are eligible. Citizens send their receipts with unique codes and have a chance to win valuable prizes. So far, over 14 million accounts have been registered and over 71 million receipts with unique codes have been sent.
Does it really help?
The Tax Administration claims that the goal of this game is to raise awareness about the importance of asking for fiscal receipts and thus reduce the shadow economy. But is sending hundreds of millions of receipts and organizing a lottery really effective?
