Port of Kotor Flooded with Cruise Ships: Tourist Boom or Anchorage Chaos?

Welcome to Kotor, where the port is turning into a cruise ship circus! Today, three cruise ships docked in the port of Kotor, bringing over 4,600 passengers who will swarm the narrow streets of this coastal town. Yes, you read that right – three ships, three massive vessels, all at the same time!

First up is the Caledonian Sky, which will stay at anchorage two for a full 20 hours and 30 minutes before sailing to Dubrovnik. At anchorage one, the massive MSC Opera, over 290 meters long with 2,250 passengers, will enjoy Kotor for 18 hours. And to spice things up, there’s also the Wind Spirit, which arrived on Wednesday and will remain docked for 23 hours before heading to Dubrovnik.

Just imagine – over 4,600 tourists flooding ashore simultaneously, hunting for food, drinks, souvenirs, and of course, Instagram shots. Kotor, with its narrow streets and ancient walls, is hardly ready for such a human tidal wave. Is this a tourist boom or anchorage chaos?

This isn’t just a number; it’s a real challenge for local infrastructure, traffic, and safety. Can the town handle this pressure? Will local businesses profit or get lost in the crowd?

As ships come and go and tourists roam, we ask – is this sustainable tourism or just another day in tourist madness? Got thoughts? Share them! Maybe you have the answer to Kotor’s cruise conundrum!
