On the night of July 12th, around 10 PM, a fire erupted on the fourth floor of a 26-story residential building in the Çankaya district of Ankara. The flames spread rapidly, engulfing multiple floors in minutes. The tragic toll? Three people lost their lives, including a three-month-old baby!

Firefighters battled the inferno for nearly four hours before bringing it under control. Emergency teams treated 26 injured on-site, with 20 rushed to Ankara’s city hospitals, including one person in critical condition.

In total, 39 people, including seven brave firefighters, suffered minor health issues due to smoke inhalation. Imagine that – the heroes who came to save others ended up needing medical care themselves!

This disaster is not just a personal tragedy but a glaring wake-up call. How is it possible that in the 21st century, in the capital of a major country, such a catastrophe can happen? Are fire safety measures in residential buildings really up to par?
