At 5:32 AM this morning, Belgrade woke up to an alarm! A fire broke out in an apartment on the fourth floor of Vojvode Stepe street, and a brave young man, Luka D. (28), ended up in the Emergency Center with minor burns on his hand and face. Yes, you read that right – while others were sleeping, he was trying to put out the fire and saved the rest of the building from total disaster.
Smoke, Fear, and Evacuation
Imagine this – the kitchen and living room completely burned down, and the smoke spread so much that all residents had to evacuate the building immediately. The exterior of the apartment turned black, and the terrace canopy was burned. Firefighters reacted swiftly and prevented the fire from spreading to other apartments. Without them, the situation could have been much worse.
Investigation Underway – What Caused the Fire?
It is still unclear how the fire started. The investigation is ongoing, and the Second Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade has been informed. Residents suspect it might have been a malfunction or negligence, but the official cause is not yet known.
