Every summer, Montenegro faces the same problem – wildfires threatening its nature. And every year, the Prime Minister promises miracles, yet citizens are left with just one operational firefighting plane. DPS councilwoman Žaklina Oštir sharply criticizes the Prime Minister’s promises about acquiring a Kanader, a plane that could save forests and homes. “The Prime Minister promised us a Kanader last year, said it was impossible to get one within a year, but anyone who understands the topic knows that acquiring a Kanader takes at least 4-5 years due to administration, bureaucracy, public procurement, and budget funds,” Oštir says. Instead of concrete measures, officials hope there won’t be a fire season this year, which Oštir calls irresponsible and dangerous. Montenegro is a Mediterranean country prone to summer fires and cannot rely on luck. Oštir points out that currently, there is only one operational plane available, and helicopters are not enough for effective firefighting. The Prime Minister’s Kanader fairy tales are just another chapter in a series of unfulfilled promises, used to gain political points while citizens remain unprotected. This situation is alarming because acquiring a Kanader is a process that takes years and cannot be sped up by promises. The people of Montenegro deserve serious and responsible politics, not empty words and false promises. If you want to know how the country is really managed in fire protection, listen to what councilwoman Oštir has to say – maybe it’s time to stop believing fairy tales and start demanding accountability. What do you think? Is it time to stop listening to empty stories and demand real solutions? Drop a comment, maybe together we can find a way to make things happen!
