Just when you think you’ve seen it all in sports, Primorac from Kotor proves you wrong! The young team, born in 2013, has just won the Montenegro Cup with a perfect record – five wins out of five matches! Yes, you read that right, five out of five! At the final tournament in Herceg Novi, Primorac crushed the competition, beating Budva, Mladost Bijela, Budućnost, Aquatic Verde, and Jadran Mtel with impressive point differences. Mladost Bijela took second place, while Aquatic Verde and Jadran Mtel came third and fourth. This generation of young water polo players shows that the future of Montenegrin water polo has never looked brighter.
But while Primorac celebrates, a real drama is brewing on the basketball court! The German national team is arriving at the upcoming EuroBasket with almost the same squad that lifted the trophy in Manila last year. New coach Aleks Mumbru has taken over the team with all the main stars, including Christian Anderson, Isaac Bonga, Oscar Silva, and others. Although without NBA champion Isaiah Hartenstein, who is recovering from an Achilles tendon injury, Germany remains one of the strongest rivals. Montenegro is in a group with this powerhouse, along with host Finland, Lithuania, Sweden, and Great Britain. EuroBasket runs from August 27 to September 14 across Latvia, Finland, Poland, and Cyprus, promising a fierce basketball battle.
So, while Primorac shows how to win trophies with young talent, Montenegro’s basketball team will face ruthless opponents on the big stage. Will the young water polo players keep dominating, and will the basketball players surprise us? Only time will tell, but one thing is clear – sports in Montenegro have never been this exciting!
If you thought that was it, wait till you see who else is making waves in Montenegrin sports! What do you think – who’s going to come out on top? Drop a comment or just say – who’s your favorite? Sports are for talking, right?
