Railway City Claims: Prokop Is Safe, Disinformation Is Spreading!

Prokop Under Siege by Disinformation: Railway City Insists the Site Is Safe!

In recent days, the media has been flooded with alarming news and disinformation about the safety of the buildings at Belgrade Central Railway Station, known as Prokop. But let’s set the record straight once and for all – Railway City, the company that built the station building, insists that all structures are built to the highest standards and are absolutely safe for use!

What’s really going on?

Last week, various media outlets spread inaccurate and sweeping comments about the condition of the Prokop buildings. Railway City quickly responded, emphasizing that every part of the complex, both below and above ground level, was meticulously designed and constructed according to the strictest regulations.

The complex has been planned for decades with various facilities, and the latest conceptual design by the Traffic Institute CIP includes a station building, a shopping center, and garages with a total area of about 75,000 m2. Construction began in 2020, and the built-up area is actually half the size of the original plans.

Experts have verified load-bearing capacity and safety

Before construction began, a detailed analysis of the existing structure’s load-bearing capacity was conducted, involving experts who participated in earlier project phases. The results were clear – the structure is safe and ready to bear additional loads.

A special transitional structure with elastomeric bearings was introduced to evenly distribute the weight of the buildings and minimize seismic impact. The slabs beneath the buildings are practically unloaded, further confirming safety.

It’s not over – further development is planned

Completing the buildings on the slab is just one phase in Prokop’s development. Further development below ground level is planned, and investors and authorities have secured all necessary technical documentation and permits.

Regular inspections of the structure’s condition are carried out, and preventive maintenance is underway – not due to problems, but to preserve the structure’s characteristics permanently. Around 1.5 million euros are planned to be invested in these works.

Why the disinformation?

It seems some comments and claims are based on unverified information and ignorance. Instead of focusing on facts and expert analyses, media and individuals spread panic and doubt, which only harms the project’s reputation and causes unnecessary fear among citizens.

The bottom line? Prokop is safe!

All analyses, projects, and inspections confirm that Belgrade Central Railway Station – Prokop, is safe for use. All buildings are constructed to the highest standards, and investors and experts stand by their words.

If you’ve heard otherwise, maybe it’s time to check your sources and not fall for sensational headlines. So, what do you think? Are the media overreacting, or is there really something rotten in Serbia? Drop a comment and let’s see who’s for or against Prokop!
