Belgrade Public Transport on the Brink: Roadworks Throw the City into Chaos!
Thought riding public transport in Belgrade was easy and stress-free? Think again! From June 25 to 28, due to roadworks on Tošin Bunar street and part of Zoran Đinđić Boulevard, the traffic regime on several public transport lines is changing — and not for the better.
Who’s Affected?
Lines 45 and 15N will operate on altered routes, and the “Studentski grad” stop will be temporarily closed. Sounds minor? Not really, as thousands of passengers will have to navigate new routes, potentially causing crowding and delays.
Why All the Chaos?
JKP “Beograd put” is carrying out regular maintenance works, but was it really necessary to do this now, in the middle of a scorching June and tourist season? Has anyone thought about the passengers who use these lines daily?
What Do the Authorities Say?
The Secretariat for Public Transport of Belgrade has announced a public procurement for municipal bus transport services in part of the Surčin municipality, indicating attempts at improvement, but the current situation with route changes and stop closures feels like a step backward.
Tropical Heatwave Adds Fuel to the Fire
As Belgrade faces a tropical heatwave with soaring temperatures, passengers are forced to wait at altered stops, often without adequate shelter or cooling. Is this really the right time for such works?
Conclusion
Public transport in Belgrade is already a challenge for many, and these changes only complicate matters further. Will the authorities finally realize that passengers are not just numbers but people who deserve efficient and reliable transport?
If you’re stuck in these changes too, share your experience! Maybe together we can learn something from this chaos or at least have a laugh at the city’s organization. Who knows, maybe someone will read and change something… or not?
