Prosecutorial Chaos: VST Rejects Zagorka Dolovac’s Candidates, Controversial Ćetković Under Fire!

Prosecutorial Chaos Shaking Serbia!

Yesterday’s session of the High Prosecutorial Council (VST) turned into a full-blown judicial revolution! Not a single one of the 19 candidates proposed by the Chief Public Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac was selected. Yes, you read that right – for the first time in 15 years of her tenure, the majority of VST members voted against her proposals! Shocking, isn’t it?

Who is Ćetković and why is he under scrutiny?

Instead of confirming Dolovac’s candidates, the VST adopted a proposal to investigate the integrity of council member and prominent lawyer Predrag Ćetković, who, surprise surprise, is close to Dolovac. Ćetković was reportedly under investigation for money laundering, a fact he concealed during his selection! The People’s Party filed a criminal complaint against him, and now the VST will decide whether he can remain a member of this important body.

Dolovac losing control – what’s going on?

A majority of 11 VST members voted to annul the competitions that Dolovac pushed for chief public prosecutors in cities like Pančevo, Valjevo, Pirot, Sombor, and Vrbas. This is the first time in the history of this body that such a thing has happened! It seems Dolovac no longer enjoys the trust of the majority of VST members, who have recognized the harm of her personnel policies and irresponsible management of the prosecution.

Catastrophic state of the prosecution

Dolovac has been at the top of Serbia’s judiciary for 15 years, but the state of the prosecution is catastrophic. Chief prosecutors’ positions are unfilled, systematization is in chaos, and reactions to external pressures and political influences are absent. Most prosecutors are tired of politics, passivity, and the undermining of the law. Members of the commission under Dolovac’s control select her candidates, mostly from Vojvodina, giving them maximum scores while others receive lower marks. Among them are Tomislav Kilibarda, Predrag Ćetković, Tatjana Lagumdžija, and Zorica Stojišić, all close to Dolovac, who have been rewarded with high prosecutorial positions.

Why does this matter?

This drama in the prosecution is not just an internal matter of the judicial system. It directly affects citizens’ trust in justice and the law. If the VST does not protect the constitution, law, and public interest, but rather personal positions and careers of those who have been undermining the judiciary for decades, then the question is – who does justice serve?

Conclusion

This all sounds like a plot from a political thriller, but it’s reality. Dolovac is under fire, her candidates rejected, and controversial Ćetković under investigation. Will the VST manage to clean up its ranks and restore citizens’ trust? Or will the judiciary continue to sink into chaos and politics?
