Protests Outside Politicians’ Homes: Where’s the Line and Why is Novi Sad Burning with Rage?

Novi Sad has become the epicenter of political chaos that has crossed all lines of decency! Yesterday’s protests outside the home of Miloš Vučević, former Prime Minister and SNS president, were not just an ordinary gathering of disgruntled citizens – it was a full-on invasion of privacy and peace of a family. Imagine this: people shouting and making noise just meters away from the city’s only maternity hospital! Yes, you read that right – women were giving birth while protesters were causing chaos outside! Vučević apologized to the neighbors but made it clear his family was deeply disturbed, especially his mother and sister.

And it doesn’t stop there! Žarko Mićin, the mayor of Novi Sad, also condemned the publication of his exact address and the announced protest in front of his apartment. He stressed that it is unacceptable to harass politicians and their families this way, especially since he has minor children. Mićin called for dialogue but made it clear he won’t be intimidated and will fight for his city.

Protests seem to have become a place where all boundaries are erased – from blocking streets and preventing students from taking exams, to showing up at politicians’ addresses and insulting their families. Vučević even called the demonstrators “losers” and “hyenas,” while the crowd chanted “your hands are bloody” and “prison awaits.” The situation escalated to the point of scuffles and throwing eggs and bottles at a café near Vučević’s building.

Marko Đurić, Serbia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, called this attack “crazy” and urged authorities to respond forcefully. He made it clear that enough is enough and such behavior deserves immediate condemnation.

This situation raises a serious question: where is the line between legitimate protest and violence against politicians’ families? Is it right to turn the private lives of public officials into a public battleground? While the government and opposition blame each other, ordinary citizens of Novi Sad remain caught in this whirlwind of rage and chaos.

If you think this is just another ordinary protest, think again. This is a fight for the soul of the city, for respect of privacy, and for boundaries that must not be crossed. So, what do you think? Are these protests a sign that society is on the edge, or just the voice of the people demanding justice? Drop a comment, share your thoughts, or just laugh at this madness – because in Novi Sad, the drama never ends!
