Putin replaced Roskosmos head Borisov with Bakanov.

Vladimir Putin has replaced Yuriy Borisov as the general director of Roscosmos and appointed Dmitry Bakanov to the position. Bakanov previously worked as a deputy minister in the Ministry of Transport, where he focused on innovations such as unmanned transportation. Before that, he headed the satellite system Gonets. Borisov had been leading Roscosmos since 2022, after replacing Dmitry Rogozin. Prior to that, Borisov was the deputy prime minister of the Russian Federation and deputy minister of defense.
