Belgrade is in chaos again, and the main culprit? The works on Republic Square that were supposed to last only three days but are now dragging on like forever! Yes, you read that right – the works planned to be finished by July 13 are now extended, and the reason? Scorching heat that made it impossible for workers to work outdoors! Who could have predicted that summer would be hot, right?
Republic Square, the heart of Belgrade, a place where people gather, stroll, and enjoy, is now turned into a construction site that just keeps going. Traffic is rerouted, and jams are avoided only because it’s currently quiet, but for how long?
The night in Belgrade was not without problems – emergency services intervened 77 times, including a traffic accident in Bubanj Potok where three people, including two children, suffered minor injuries. Is this the price we pay for extended works and traffic chaos?
To make things worse, today large parts of Belgrade, including Čukarica, New Belgrade, Zemun, Obrenovac, and Surčin, will be without electricity from 9 AM to 5 PM. Perfect timing for works, right?
While Belgrade struggles with these issues, citizens are called to donate blood at three locations, as emergencies seem to be a daily occurrence.
All in all, the works on Republic Square have become a symbol of Belgrade’s chaos – planned for three days, now extended indefinitely. Will they ever be finished? Or will we forever watch a construction site stealing our time and nerves?
If you have your own take on this endless chaos, feel free to share it – maybe together we’ll find the answer to the question: When will the works on Republic Square finally end?
