Rational Solutions for Berane Airport and Development of Jelovica Tourist Complex

The President of the Berane municipality, Đole Lutovac, stated that the idea of reactivating the airport in Berane is not disputed, but the proposal by German investor Mike Steinmiller exceeds realistic possibilities and is not sustainable. Lutovac emphasized that there are more rational models for developing a regional airport with minimal expropriation and that the municipality has prepared a conceptual project for the development of the Jelovica tourist complex with cable cars, gondolas, and hotels. He highlighted the importance of respecting local laws and sustainable development, noting that the investor’s proposal does not consider expropriation costs or environmental impact. Municipalities in the northern region have already presented their initiatives to the investor and are awaiting further steps and visits.

Political Perspectives:

Left: Left-leaning sources might emphasize the importance of sustainable development, environmental protection, and the need for careful planning that respects local communities and laws. They may critique the investor’s proposal for being too expansive and potentially harmful to the environment and local residents.

Center: Center-leaning sources tend to present a balanced view, acknowledging the potential benefits of reactivating the airport and developing tourism infrastructure while also highlighting the concerns about feasibility, costs, and environmental impact. They focus on rational solutions and dialogue between stakeholders.

Right: Right-leaning sources may emphasize economic development, investment opportunities, and regional growth. They might support the idea of reactivating the airport and developing tourism as a way to boost the local economy but also stress the importance of respecting laws and ensuring that investments are realistic and beneficial to the community.
