Recall of Parkinson’s Disease Drugs in Croatia: Which Medications Are on the Blacklist?

A storm is brewing in Croatia over the recall of two well-known drugs for Parkinson’s disease! The Croatian Agency HALMED has initiated an urgent recall of a batch of Ludiomil 25 mg film-coated tablets, containing the active substance maprotiline, due to detected impurities exceeding allowed limits. To make matters worse, this drug is currently the only one on the Croatian market with this active substance and pharmaceutical form, causing extra worry for Parkinson’s patients.

But wait, there’s more! The drug Razagilin Belupo 1 mg tablets, produced by Belupo Lekovi Kozmetika d.d., is also being recalled. However, only a specific batch is affected; other batches remain on the market and, according to available data, pose no safety risk to patients.

HALMED urges patients not to panic but to consult their doctors or pharmacists if they have any questions or concerns. Still, the fact that there is currently no alternative to Ludiomil on the Croatian market casts a shadow over the safety of therapy for Parkinson’s patients.

This situation raises many questions about the quality and safety of medicines on the market and the readiness of authorities to respond promptly and protect patients. Is this just the tip of the iceberg of drug problems in the region? Patients and experts are eagerly awaiting further developments and solutions that will ensure the availability of safe and effective therapies.

If you have experience with these drugs or thoughts on this situation, feel free to share in the comments — maybe your story will help someone in need!
