Just when you thought you’ve seen it all, Relja Popović and Nikolija’s explicit video is stirring up a storm again! At the Music Week festival, Relja openly talked about his performance and the wild reactions sparked by his wife Nikolija’s video. Yes, you read that right — a video packed with explicit scenes that got restrictions but still keeps causing a public frenzy.
Relja didn’t shy away from the topic and openly addressed the comments from Vesna Žmijanac, Nikolija’s mother-in-law, who apparently had her own take on the video. “Let the colleagues talk morbid stuff,” said Relja, making it clear he’s not bothered by the negative noise. He emphasized that their family stands united and supports each other unconditionally, including Vesna Žmijanac.
But let’s be real — why does Serbia still have a problem with intimacy? Relja calls it a big mystery and says that’s exactly why the video caused such a shock. “When you break a taboo and people start talking, that’s a good sign,” the rapper added. Even though the video has restrictions, he believes those who want to watch it will find a way.
At the Music Week festival, Relja enjoyed performing in front of the Belgrade crowd, while Nikolija, though not present, had his full support. Their kids are still little, so they weren’t at the show, but the family is there to back each other through these challenging times.
Of course, the video didn’t escape criticism. Dado Polumenta called it “morbid” and “shameful,” especially pointing out that their kids watch it. But isn’t that just another sign that society isn’t ready to embrace freedom of expression and artistic provocation?
Art has to provoke and ask questions, and this video is exactly that — a challenge to conservative views and the closed attitude towards intimate topics. Relja and Nikolija have opened the door to a conversation about something long taboo, and that’s already a big step forward.
If you thought this was the end of the story, think again. Reactions keep pouring in, and the video continues to spark a storm of comments. Is this the start of a new era of openness or just another controversy that will be quickly forgotten? Only time will tell.
What about you? What do you think about videos like this? Too much or is society just too closed off? Drop a comment, let’s see who’s for and who’s against — because hey, art is here to push us out of our comfort zones, right?
