Repeat Elections in Kosjerić: Chaos, Threats, and Shocking Voter Turnout

The repeat elections in Kosjerić have turned into a full-blown drama! At polling station number 25, where the vote was annulled by the Higher Court in Užice, voter turnout was a staggering 54.83% at noon and 38.01% at 10 AM. But that’s not the only shocking part. There were verbal and physical attacks at this very spot! Activists from the “Clean Kosjerić” group insulted the mayor Žarko Đokić, and one even tried to block his car and threatened to harass his family. The police acted quickly to prevent further incidents, but the atmosphere remains tense. In the elections held on June 8, the “We Won’t Give Up Serbia” list led by Aleksandar Vučić won 49.23% of the votes and 14 seats, while the “United Kosjerić” list got 48.54% and 13 seats. The third list, the Russian Party of Serbia, managed only 0.64%. The Kosjerić municipal assembly has 27 seats in total, and these results show just how tense and unpredictable the political climate is here.
