Spanish police arrested eight people after violent clashes erupted between far-right groups and migrants in the town of Torre Pacheco, Murcia region. The chaos started after an unknown attacker beat up an elderly local, sparking calls from far-right groups for revenge against the large migrant community in the area. Torre Pacheco has about 42,000 residents, one-third of whom are foreign-born, many working as day laborers in agriculture, the main economic driver of the region. Five people were injured in the clashes, and police presence in the town has been significantly increased.
