Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7: Foldable Phone Revolution or Just an Expensive Gimmick?

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7: Foldable Phone Revolution or Just an Expensive Gimmick?

Samsung just dropped the gauntlet with its latest foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7. But is this really a revolution in mobile devices or just another pricey gimmick for those with deep pockets? Let’s break down what’s behind the shiny packaging.

Thinner, lighter, but better?

The Galaxy Z Fold7 is now thinner and lighter than its predecessor — weighing just 255 grams, 24 grams less than before. Its thickness is down to 8.9 mm when folded and only 4.2 mm when unfolded. The outer screen is now bigger at 6.5 inches, while the inner screen grew by 11% to 8 inches. The AMOLED 2X display with Vision Booster tech promises stunning visuals even in direct sunlight. But is that enough to justify the price?

The hinge that holds it all together

Samsung upgraded the hinge — the Armor Flexhinge is thinner, lighter, and more durable thanks to a new multi-rail design. This is the key part of foldable tech, deciding how long the phone lasts and how comfortable it is to use.

Powerful hardware and AI magic

Inside the Fold7 beats the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor with improved performance: 41% stronger neural processing unit, 38% stronger CPU, and 26% stronger GPU compared to the previous generation. The camera got a 50 MP wide-angle lens for the first time in the Galaxy Z series, delivering 44% brighter shots and an 85-degree field of view for group selfies. AI photo editing features are enhanced with auto object removal and an audio eraser.

Z Flip7: The pocket-sized wonder

The Z Flip7 boasts the largest FlexWindow display yet — 4.1 inches with a smooth refresh rate and Vision Booster tech. The phone is thinner and lighter, weighing just 183 grams and measuring 13.7 mm thick when folded. The main screen is 6.9 inches, Dynamic AMOLED 2X. The battery is bigger at 3700 mAh, and for the first time, Samsung DeX is available on the Z Flip7, turning the phone into a practical workstation.

Cameras and selfie revolution

The Z Flip7 features a dual-camera system: 50 MP wide-angle and 12 MP ultra-wide lenses, plus a 10 MP selfie camera with real-time filters and a new zoom slider. The popular dual preview lets you see the shot on both the main and FlexWindow screens simultaneously.

Future or just another overpriced gadget?

Samsung has definitely raised the bar in foldable phones. But with prices in the thousands of euros, the question remains — is this really a device for everyone or just for those who love to flaunt the latest tech? Thinner, lighter, with better screens and cameras, but still fragile and expensive.

If you’re ready to pay the price for innovation, the Fold7 and Flip7 are here to wow you. If not, maybe it’s time to wait for the next generation or stick with classic phones.

So, what do you think? Would you drop thousands on a phone that folds? Or is this just another big company trick to empty your wallet? Drop a comment and let’s see who’s in and who’s out of this foldable revolution!
