Paradise Beach Turns Into an Artistic Wonderland!
Think you’ve seen it all on the Adriatic? Think again! Paradise Beach in Lopar, one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic, is transforming into a massive open-air art gallery from July 1st to 4th. Yes, you read that right – the 14th edition of the popular Sand Sculpture Festival is back with the theme “Sandy World” and promises the richest program ever.
Ten Artists, Five Teams, and Tons of Sand
This summer, ten international artists divided into five teams will use exclusively Lopar sand and water to create original sculptures inspired by fantastic marine motifs. Imagine octopuses, tritons, and even cocktails – all sculpted from sand! But remember, these sculptures are temporary, as weather and sea conditions slowly erase them, adding a unique charm and fleeting beauty.
A Festival for All Ages and Tastes
The festival kicks off as early as May with the creation of a replica of last year’s winning sculpture “Bilbodom,” which has become a permanent fixture on Paradise Beach. Throughout July and August, children can participate in workshops, and all visitors can enjoy numerous fun activities – all completely free!
Art, Nature, and Fun in Perfect Harmony
Marin Mušćo, director of the Lopar Tourist Board, highlights that the festival attracts more and more visitors each year who enjoy the blend of art, nature, and the unique atmosphere of the island of Rab. The festival is organized by the Lopar Tourist Board and the Lopar Cultural Center, in cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, with artistic leadership entrusted to academic sculptor Paula Banić.
Grand Finale and More
The festival’s final day, July 4th, features a musical highlight – a performance by the popular Insula band on Paradise Beach. But that’s not all! The festival program continues until the end of September with exhibitions, workshops, and animations.
Lopar Summer – A Paradise for Art and Fun
The Sand Sculpture Festival is just the start of a rich summer in Lopar, which will also feature fishing festivals, the Paradise Kids Festival, and celebrations of the Feast of the Assumption. If you love art, nature, and good fun, Paradise Beach is the place to be this summer!
So, what do you say? Ready to try your hand at making sculptures that vanish like they were never there? Or just coming to enjoy and snap some selfies? Share your thoughts – maybe your idea will be the next sculpture on Paradise Beach!
