Fire Hell in Serbia: Over 4,000 Blazes, One Dead and 14 Injured!
Ready for a fire apocalypse? Serbia is literally burning! Since the beginning of June, over 4,000 wildfires have been recorded across the country. Yes, you read that right – four thousand! Just yesterday, by 7 PM, there were 4 major fires with tragic consequences: one person died, and 14 citizens were injured, including two brave firefighters.
Mačva District Ablaze
The Mačva administrative district was hit especially hard – 46 fires were reported during the day. Firefighters from Šabac, Sremska Mitrovica, Loznica, and other places are working at full capacity, including two tankers from JKP Stari Grad Šabac and the Zorka Elixir firefighting unit. The Emergency Situations Sector is increasing inspection patrols, and any irresponsible behavior by citizens will be strictly punished.
A Call for Responsibility – But Who’s Listening?
The Ministry of Interior urges citizens to act responsibly, especially during high temperatures and drought that favor the spread of fire. Burning dry grass, low vegetation, and waste in the open is strictly forbidden and poses a direct threat to lives, property, and the environment. If you see a fire, call the firefighters immediately!
Firefighters at Their Limits
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Ivica Dačić stated that all human and technical resources are engaged in extinguishing the fires. Besides the fires, Serbia has been hit by severe weather with rain, hail, and strong winds, complicating the situation further. Helicopter units are also on the ground, but the situation is extremely difficult.
Who’s to Blame?
Is this the result of climate change, human irresponsibility, or something else? One thing is clear – irresponsible behavior and burning grass in these conditions is playing with fire, literally. The Emergency Situations Sector promises increased controls and sanctions, but will it be enough?
Conclusion
Serbia is burning, people are suffering, and we are just watching. Will we finally realize that nature is stronger than us? Or will we keep burning and destroying our own country? Firefighters are at their limits, and every new fire can be fatal.
