Serbian Athletes Rank 10th at European Team Championships II League: Heroes or Invisible Fighters?

Did you know our Serbian athletes took 10th place at the European Team Championships II League in Maribor? Yes, you read that right – tenth place! Not exactly the top, but hey, we’re there! Three of our athletes even stood on the podium on the first day. Milica Gardašević won the long jump with 6.75 meters, scoring a maximum 16 points for Serbia. Sinančević threw the shot put 20.54 meters and took second place, while Adriana Vilagoš threw the javelin 62.75 meters and grabbed third place.

But wait, there’s more! Elzan Bibić took 5th place, Marko Vlahović 6th in long jump, Maja Gajić 7th in hurdles, and Mihajlo Katanić 8th in the same event. Slavko Stević jumped 2.09 meters and took 10th in high jump. And so on, our guys and girls fought like lions, but the results are mostly mid-table or lower.

What does this mean? Is 10th place a success or a failure? Are our athletes heroes fighting against all odds or invisible fighters no one notices? While some celebrate medals, others wonder where the support is, where the training conditions are, and why our athletes can’t climb higher on the ladder.

This championship is a chance to see how far we are from the top of European athletics. Is it a sign we need to wake up and start investing in sports, or will we remain on the sidelines? Milica, Sinančević, and Adriana showed we have talent, but is that enough?

If you thought sports are only for gold winners, think again. These guys and girls prove that fighting for 10th place counts too. So, what do you think? Is 10th place a reason to celebrate or worry? Drop a comment, roast or cheer – let the people’s voice be heard!
