Šehović: Awards to Chauvinists and Pepper Spray to Citizens – Government Humiliates Montenegro

Have you ever seen a country celebrate its Statehood Day by awarding those who deny its history? Well, in Montenegro, that’s exactly what’s happening! Damir Šehović, president of the Social Democrats and leader of the European Alliance, can’t stay silent about the scandal of the year – awarding the July 13th prize to a person who calls Montenegro a “communist invention.” Yes, you read that right! While freedom and antifascism should be celebrated, the government chooses to reward chauvinists and those who humiliate the state and its identity.

Šehović sharply condemned this decision, calling it a moral downfall and an insult to all antifascist fighters and citizens who believe in a European, multiethnic Montenegro. But that’s not all – when citizens protested against this shameful decision, the police responded violently, using pepper spray against them! Instead of dialogue and reason, the government opts for repression and force. Is this the Montenegro we want?

Šehović states that the European Alliance stands with all those who bravely and fearlessly oppose hatred and the erosion of Montenegro’s fundamental values. He refuses to let the freedom-loving history be erased and the truth trampled. He won’t allow Montenegro to be dragged back into the darkness of denial, fear, and humiliation.

This situation is a wake-up call for all of us. How can a country award those who deny its past and identity? How can the police use pepper spray against their own citizens demanding justice? If this seems far from democracy and freedom to you, you’re not alone. So, what do you think? Is it time to speak up loudly, or will we stay silent while our country is humiliated? Drop a comment, share your thoughts, or just make your friends laugh with this absurd story – because sometimes laughter is the best response to the madness around us!
