Spanish Designers Take Over Belgrade: Redesigning the World at Cervantes

Get ready, Belgrade! Twelve top Spanish designers are coming to show you how the world is changing – and not just a little, but totally! The exhibition “Designers: Redesigning the World” opens on July 10th at the Cervantes Institute Gallery, bringing an explosion of creativity, innovation, and – yes, you read that right – digital craftsmanship.

What is this all about?

This exhibition is not just another collection of pretty things. It’s a true artistic and social movement. Curator Gloria Ruis explains that the “re” in the title means repetition, but also a complete rethinking of design. Forget small improvements – these women want to create a new reality! The world is changing faster than ever, and they are here to show how design can be a tool for a better, more sustainable, and inclusive world.

Who are these magicians?

At the exhibition, you’ll see works by Helena Rohner, Veronika Fuerte, Marta Ajala, Julia Eske, Raquel Buh, Amalia Puga, Ingrid Pikanjol, Mirian Miguel, Silvia Ferpal, Cristina Omarementeria, Ines Sistijaga, and Eli Gutierres. Each brings a unique perspective on the world and design, blending traditional crafts with modern technologies. The result? Digital craftsmanship pushing the boundaries of creativity.

What to expect?

Jewelry, decorative objects, furniture – all not just eye candy but deeply thoughtful. The materials and production processes are no accident; they are part of an artistic discourse calling for a more humane and dedicated reality. These designers experiment, use new technologies and knowledge to create not just products but messages.

Events and talks

Before the exhibition opens, on July 10th at 6 PM, there will be a talk titled “Design with Purpose: How We Shape the World Around Us.” Artists Helena Rohner from Spain and Iva Brkić Walter from Serbia will participate. It’s a chance to hear about their challenges, how they started their careers, and why staying true to yourself in business matters.

Why does this matter?

In a world changing fast, where technology and ecology demand new approaches, these designers show it’s possible to combine tradition and innovation. Their works are not just art – they’re a call to action, to think about how we want to live and what kind of world we want to leave future generations.

When and where?

The exhibition is open from July 10th at the Cervantes Institute Gallery in Belgrade. Guided tours in Serbian and Spanish are scheduled for July 25th and August 29th, both at 7 PM. Admission is free, so no excuses not to come and see how the world can be redesigned!

Conclusion

If you think design isn’t important or is just for fashion runways and luxury salons, think again. These Spanish designers prove design can be a powerful tool to change the world. And not just any world – a better, smarter, and more humane one.

So, are you ready to join this creative movement? Or will you stay stuck in old habits? Drop a comment, share your thoughts, or just say – what’s your favorite color for redesigning the world?
