The government has finally opened a public call for support in livestock farming, but is this really an opportunity for farmers or just another bureaucratic nightmare? A total of several hundred million dinars have been allocated to improve primary agricultural production. Registered agricultural holdings, entrepreneurs, business organizations, NGOs, and other categories are eligible to participate. The call opened on July 11, and funds are granted on a first-come, first-served basis as long as the budget lasts. The maximum subsidy amount per application is 3.5 million dinars, with a possible 10% increase for certain administrative districts. Investments must be worth at least a specified amount of dinars and can include construction and equipping of facilities such as barns, poultry houses, fish ponds, as well as the purchase of new equipment. But will farmers manage to navigate the complex paperwork and electronic application via the eAgrar portal? And what about the new cases of brucellosis threatening the health of animals and humans? The government promises help, but is it enough and will it arrive on time? This topic is crucial for the future of Serbian livestock farming and rural development.
